William Straw

William Straw is director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada and professor within the Department of Art History and Communications Studies at McGill University. His interests include urban culture, the history of print culture, popular music studies, and cinema. Author of Cyanide and Sin : Visualizing Crime in 1950s America (2006) and co-editor of several books including Circulation and the City : Essays on Urban Culture (2014), William Straw is also currently working on several research projects, including The urban night as interdisciplinary objects and The film extra and its historical meanings.
